15th of May 2019 – Spanish countertenor Víctor Jiménez Díaz launches his debut album with Ensemble Rigaudon, under the label of ℗ 2019 Columna Música.
The generous selection of 22 baroque cantatas, some of them rescued from centuries of dust and presented as an absolute first audition, is the result of seven years of research and study. The thorough work of our countertenor is transparent and supported by the sublime historical performance of Ensemble Rigaudon: Maike Burgdorf, plucked strings; Àngel Villagrasa, harpsichord and Dimitri Kindynis, cello.
The album is dedicated to one of the most important diplomats, patrons, and intellectuals of the eighteenth century, Cardinal Pietro Ottoboni (1667-1740) and starts with four arias of L’Amante Tacito, H. 711 by Alessandro Scarlatti that offer a brave opening with great variations and a ravishing interpretation, announcing a promising session of great music right from the start!
With Impara a No Dar Fede by Giovanni Battista Bononcini, Víctor offers to his listeners the present of a crystal-clear voice that invites to a journey back in time to the noble courts of baroque Italy and serves all his sensitivity on a golden platter with Ahí; Qual Sembianza of Antonio Caldara.
The album continues with Pianti, sospiri e dimandar mercede RV 676 by the great Antonio Vivaldi, with an eclectic style and great vocal acrobatics, just to continue with an even more elegant cadence with Fra Pensieri, HWV 115 of Georg Friedrich Händel.
The end brings Lumi Dolenti Tempo è di Piangere S. 180 of Benedetto Marcello, that in italian means “sorrowful eyes is time to cry” as if it were sadly saying goodbye after a beautiful 40 minutes musical love story, just to excite its listeners with Le tempeste del cor agitato – “the storm of a restless heart” – so they would not give in and press PLAY again and again!
Víctor Jiménez Díaz and Ensemble Rigaudon offer with “Bocatto di Cardinale” an addictive experience!Alexandra Asanache, International Manager
